Maîtres Chez Nous
In the early 1960s, the rallying cry, which ushered in Quebec’s Quiet Revolution, was maîtres chez nous, “masters in our own home.” The premise underlying the slogan was that a small minority of largely Anglophones, based largely in Montreal, had overwhelming socioeconomic and cultural influence over the majority Francophones. This anecdote merely demonstrates the universality of this aspiration for ethnic and cultural autonomy and supremacy by any local populace within their own borders. Surely, mid-20th century decolonization provides ample evidence of this.
However, as Jews acquire an outsized influence and power in any given society, (usually more the former than the latter), there is evident alarm and resentment by the natives of the host nation, exaggerated claims of Jewish control leading to conspiracy theories (i.e., The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, 1903), and deliberate policies, emanating from the top down, to excise Jewish influence over the levers of power and over society in general. Framed in this way, the logic of antisemitism and the periodic episodes of mob violence and civic denigration make a lot more sense, although it, by no means, explaining everything.
When, meanwhile, the customs of that most accursed nation have gained such strength that they have been now received in all lands, the conquered have given laws to the conquerors.1
The concern over outsized Jewish influence over local goyim society is hardly new. One suspects that Manetho’s and Apion’s screeds against the Jews were partly the result of resentment that foreigners (Greeks, Jews, and later Romans) were dictating life for the subjugated Egyptian natives. Egyptian locals could do little against Hellenist and Roman armaments. Jews were another matter. And it is not as if maîtres chez nous was alien to Egypt. Nativism had inspired the reconquest of Egypt by the Egyptians for the Egyptians against the Nubian Twenty-Fifth Dynasty (744–656 BC).
Romans expelled Jews from the city of Rome three times (139 BC, 19 AD, and 49 AD), the earlier expulsions partly resulting from Old Guard Republican concerns that alien notions were corrupting Roman mores. The Roman Republic, with the insistence of Cato the Elder, had done likewise to Greek philosophers in 155 BC, most notoriously being Academic skeptic, Carneades.
After the First Jewish War (66–73 AD), Titus was forbidden by Vespasian from further pursuing his amorous liaison with the Jewish queen, Berenice, hardly a unique event in light of earlier Roman disdain for the liaison between Mark Antony and Cleopatra.
Hannah Arendt, (The Origins of Totalitarianism, 1951), likewise made the point that deliberate policy actions were taken to reduce Jewish influence on the affairs of European society by the governing elite. (Arendt would go on to argue that because the wealth and status of European Jews could not be attributed to their utility to greater society, they became expendable.)
Weimar Germany
In the early twentieth century, a dense corporate network was created among the large German corporations ("Germany Inc."). About 16% of the members of this corporate network were of Jewish background. At the center of the network (big linkers) about 25% were Jewish. The percentage of Jews in the general population was less than 1% in 1914.2
Although Jews made up less than one percent of the population of Weimar Germany, they made up between 25 and 30 percent of the legal profession, including a number of the leading lawyers.3
It is incontrovertible fact that Jews had outsized influence over the German economy, courts, media, and arts in the early twentieth century. Jews themselves boast of their communal achievements during that period. As Jews were largely concentrated in the urban centers, particularly Gay Berlin, and strongly leaning towards a progressive sensibility within a largely conservative nation, these German Jews, with outsized influence over goyim society, became alienated and were seen as a threat to a proud, pre-existing German heritage. Moreover, Jews became closely associated with the sociopolitical chaos, economic disaster, and perverse decadence that was the Weimar Republic.4
In January 1919, a cadre of largely Jewish Marxists sought to establish a soviet-style republic (“Raterepublik”) in Munich (Spartacist Uprising). While not excusing the exaggerations and events which later ensue, it is not unreasonable to understand the popular resonance of Nazi propaganda.
Jewish Influence Over Present-Day America
How deeply Jewish is Hollywood? When the studio chiefs took out a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago to demand that the Screen Actors Guild settle its contract, the open letter was signed by: News Corp. President Peter Chernin (Jewish), Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey (Jewish), Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger (Jewish), Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton (surprise, Dutch Jew), Warner Bros. Chairman Barry Meyer (Jewish), CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves (so Jewish his great uncle was the first prime minister of Israel), MGM Chairman Harry Sloan (Jewish) and NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker (mega-Jewish). If either of the Weinstein brothers had signed, this group would have not only the power to shut down all film production but to form a minyan with enough Fiji water on hand to fill a mikvah.5
I mean, they may have some assumptions about things, how the Jews run everything; well, we do. How the Jews run the banks; well, we do. How the Jews run the media; well, we do. They’re right about all that stuff…It’s a fact, this is not in debate. It’s a statistical fact…. Jews are vastly disproportionately represented in all of these professions. It’s just a fact. It’s not anti-Semitic to point out statistics.6
The president of Harvard is a Jew. So were two of his last four predecessors. The secretary of the treasury and former chairwoman of the Federal Reserve is a Jew. So were her two confirmed predecessors in the former position and two predecessors in the latter. Since Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death, there have been only two Jews on the Supreme Court. But that loss is partially compensated by Merrick Garland's position as attorney general, a consolation price for his blocked nomination to the Supreme Court.
The position of Jews at the top of major civic institutions is both a success story and a somewhat touchy subject. Out of all disproportion to numbers — under 2 percent of the US population — Jews occupy some of the most influential positions in American life. As a small but hugely influential group defined by a combination of religious, ethnic, and cultural characteristics, American Jews can be seen as successors to the WASPs of the 20th century.7
Jewish influence over American society and culture has become just as outsized as it was in Germany during the first third of the 20th century. Three of the last four Federal Reserve Chairpersons (Greenspan, Bernanke, Yellen) were Jews. Until the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg in 2020, one third of U.S. Supreme Court Justices were of Jewish ethnicity in a nation where only 2.5% of citizens are Jewish. All three Jewish jurists constituted the ideological far-left wing of that court.
Jews constitute more than their fair proportion of elected civic officials; a problem if, for instance, Jewish senators on Judicial Committees disregard principles of juridical due process which are part and parcel of their own Jewish heritage and natural justice (re: Kavanaugh hearings). The head of the CDC was a Jewess (Rochelle Walensky), whose prevarications risked not only loss of public trust in the CDC, but in the integrity and competence of all scientific disciplines.
Joel Stein might have boasted tongue-in-cheek, “As a proud Jew, I want America to know about our accomplishment. Yes, we control Hollywood.” One observes a lot of boasting within the Jewish community about their accomplishments. This may be understandable, even normal, but imprudent, and certainly contrary to the counsels of their Hebrew God.
Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom,
nor the strong man in his strength,
nor the wealthy man in his riches.
– Jeremiah 9:23
Considering the rhythms of history, I thought that trepidation might be more appropriate, and scribbled at that time six years ago, “This is not going to end well.”
As implied in the first of this series, the rise of America to geopolitical prominence, owes little to its Jewish population. Indeed, there will, no doubt, emerge a demagogue who will correlate the rise of the Jews within American society with the relative decline of American society, who will correlate the demise of the Jews within German society with the peace and prosperity of post-WW2 German society.
Correlation may not be causation. My own long-held convictions subscribe to a different overarching cause to explain the relative American decline which remains a work-in-progress. Yet, cynical realism recognizes that simple-mindedness will view correlation as causation.
There is also a desire to reclaim the culture, the American heritage, which still resonates in flyover America, from these aliens with their hypocritical cosmopolitan perspective. If the secularist Diasporic Jews are so far to the left, as iconized by Bernie Sanders, in a right-of-center nation which has never been irreligious in the same way as these secularist Jews or even in contemporary Europe; and if the cultural arts are dominated and effectively guarded, however haphazardly, by these self-serving, secularized Jews, from allowing the native heritage from being able to profitably express itself in an uncorrupted way (think Disney), how long before an American version of a völkisch party, with its anti-Semitic overtones, arises?8 (Written in spring 2016)
The ostensible prosperity and power of contemporary America is currently built upon fragile foundations, held together by series of exigent patches which will invariably unravel over time. When the rot is laid bare, it has been the historical pattern for societies, especially ones with a proud and hitherto successful heritage to harken back to those understandings and mores which undergirded that societies’ initial successes. The Romans, under Emperors Decius and Valerian, in the midst of the Crisis of the Third Century, sought to forcibly reinstate some of the ancient Republican mores upon imperial society. When the Visigoths sacked Rome in 410 A.D., many Romans blamed impiety to the pagan gods as causal, and thereby disparaged the Christian religion and its adherents.
If and when the rot is laid bare in contemporary America, besides an impetus towards recovering America’s soul, there will be many who will ask, “Who did this to us?” Considering the degree to which they have participated in the contemporary morass, Jews will be seen as prominent causal agents of that American decline, regardless of how valid correlation is to causation.
The reader may get a sense that this writer blames the Jews for their own historical misfortunes. My own opinion is far more nuanced. I am not unaware of the goyim’s culpability. However, I reject the self-serving delusion that Jews have been the eternal innocent victims. (Consider the Kitos War.) Nor have they been eternal villains. Indeed, there seems to exist an endemic basis for the animosity between Jews and goyim, one hinted at in New Testament Scriptures.
But it seems necessary to first outline some ways by which the Jews have contributed to their own misfortune in order to properly and fully understand this interplay between Jews and goyim.
